23 Zacapa rum is produced through a process of aging resulting from the technique of "sistema solera" in which aged and different rums are assembled and then aged in a series of barrels. The first drums were used to keep robust American whiskey, delicate sherry second and the last of elegant wines Pedro Ximenez. In the end, the resulting liquid is a unique blend of rums from 6-23 years of age, with a fascinating maze of honey, caramel, spicy oak and dried fruit flavors.
